Day 2: Tuesday 4 Jan. Egyptian Museum - Islamic Cairo
After taking breakfast at your hotel in Cairo, you will be escorted by your tour guide to visit the Egyptian Museum. Lunch will be taken throughout the tour at a local restaurant. Then, continue driving to Islamic Cairo, where you will be able to explore Khan El Khalili, Cairo’s oldest bazaar. Overnight in Cairo.

Day 3: Wednesday 5 Jan. Flying to Aswan – Temple of Philae
Check out from your hotel in Cairo in the morning, and then get transferred to Cairo Airport for your flight to Aswan.
Arrive in Aswan, where you are met by your tour guide and begin your day of exploring by visiting the majestic Temple of Philae. Ride a motorized boat to the island of Agilika. This sacred complex was dedicated to the goddess Isis and reflects a fusion of three great civilizations - Egyptian, Greek and Roman. The temple was dismantled and then painstakingly reassembled when the Aswan High Dam was constructed. Proceed to the granite quarries and site of the Unfinished Obelisk. Illustrating the skills of Egypt’s stonemasons, this monolith is one-third taller than any other ancient Egyptian obelisk. Enjoy lunch, Transfer to your hotel in Aswan.

Day 4: Thursday 6 Jan. Boarding Dahabiya in Aswan - Kom Ombo - Gebel el-Silsila
Transfer from your hotel in Aswan to embark the Nile Dahabiya. After a welcome by the crew, the boat sets sail towards a small island for a walk through the tranquil countryside. After lunch on the sundeck, you visit the only double temple of Egypt in Kom Ombo, dedicated to two gods, Sobek and Haroeris. The temple has double entrances, procession routes and sanctuaries. Continue sailing to the ancient sandstone quarries at Gebel el-Silsila. First night on board.

Day 5: Friday 7 Jan. Edfu - El Fawaz
After breakfast, you explore the rock temple and the remains of monuments in the old quarries. While daily life on the riverbanks gets underway and the first fishermen are at work, you can relax on the sundeck while the crew sails to Edfu. Here you see the fantastically well-preserved temple of Horus, the falcon god. The walls of the innermost part of the temple are completely covered in texts, which actually makes it a library carved in stone. The day ends at a small Nile island where you have dinner around a campfire. Second night on board.

Day 6: Saturday 8 Jan El-Kab - Esna
Sail to El Kab, the ancient city of Nekheb with temples and rock tombs from the Old Kingdom. Visit some of the tombs cut into the cliffs and the remains of its temples. Sailing to Esna. Third and last night on board.

Day 7: Sunday 9 Jan – Disembarkation in Esna - Drive to Luxor
End of the Dahabiya journey in Esna after breakfast on board. Transfer to your hotel in Luxor (50 north of Esna).
Arrive in Luxor, journey to the east bank of the Nile, the Temple of Karnak, where generations of pharaohs wished to record their names. Walk through the Great Hypostyle Hall, strolling among its expertly aligned columns, which soar to 80 feet high. Continue to the striking Temple of Luxor. View the three large statues of Ramses II along the front of the temple pylons; the Courtyard of Ramses II; and the Colonnade of Amenhotep III, with its 50-foot-high columns. Walk in their shadows as visitors have done since antiquity and ponder the astonishing feats of engineering it took to create them.

Day 8: Monday 10 Jan. West Bank Tour - Fly Cairo
This morning, explore the west bank of the Nile River and the Necropolis of Thebes, and view the Colossi of Memnon. Next, arrive at the architecturally stunning Temple of Hatshepsut, ancient Egypt’s first female pharaoh and regarded today as one of its most successful. Continue to the Valley of the Kings, burial ground of the pharaohs and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. For a period of 500 years beginning in the 16th century BC, tombs were built along this valley for pharaohs and nobles, including that of “the boy king,” Tutankhamun. Enter the tomb of Tutankhamun - found in 1922 by British archaeologist and Egyptologist Howard Carter- to discover the secrets of this storied chamber.
