5 Day Nile Cruise From Luxor To Aswan

DAY 1: EMBARK IN LUXOR | EAST BANK

Arrive Luxor Airport, Where you are met by your Journey to Egypt Tour Guide (At Exit Door, holding a sign with your name) and begin your day of exploring by visiting the East Bank of the Nile, the Temple of Karnak, where generations of pharaohs wished to record their names. Walk through the Great Hypostyle Hall, strolling among its expertly aligned columns, which soar to 80 feet high. Continue to the striking Temple of Luxor. View the three large statues of Ramses II along the front of the temple pylons; the Courtyard of Ramses II; and the Colonnade of Amenhotep III, with its 50-foot-high columns. Walk in their shadows as visitors have done since antiquity and ponder the astonishing feats of engineering it took to create them. Then, Board your Nile cruise boat. Enjoy lunch & Dinner on board.

Day 2: VALLEY OF THE KINGS | CRUISING THE NILE

This morning, explore the West Bank of the Nile River and the Necropolis of Thebes, and view the Colossi of Memnon. Next, arrive at the architecturally stunning Temple of Hatshepsut, ancient Egypt’s first female pharaoh and regarded today as one of its most successful. Continue to the Valley of the Kings, burial ground of the pharaohs and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. For a period of 500 years beginning in the 16th century BC, tombs were built along this valley for pharaohs and nobles, including that of “the boy king,” Tutankhamun. Enter the tomb of Tutankhamun (Extra ticket on Spot) - found in 1922 by British archaeologist and Egyptologist Howard Carter- to discover the secrets of this storied chamber. This afternoon, Cruise to Edfu.

Special Information

It is possible to do a Valley of the Kings hot air balloon tour which your leader can reserve for you. Intrepid only uses providers that have been risk assessed. You will be picked up between 4.30 and 5am from your Nile Cruise. Balloon capacity is maximum of 25 people and cameras are prohibited in the basket (mobile phones are acceptable). This activity runs subject to weather conditions. Please speak to your tour guide on Day 1 if you would like to book this activity.

DAY 3: CRUISING THE NILE | TEMPLE OF HORUS & KOM OMBO

Today, view the Temple of Horus, falcon-headed god of the sky. Built in 230 BC by Ptolemy III, this amazingly well-preserved and colorful structure reveals what temple worship in ancient Egypt was like. Back on board, Cruise to Kom Ombo. Disembark at Kom Ombo (hill of gold) to visit the Greco- Roman temple dedicated to Haroeris (the sun god) and Sobek (the crocodile god), whom some ancient Egyptians considered the creator of the world. View the mummified remains of several crocodiles that once basked along the ancient Nile shore, just as their descendants do today. Back on board ,Cruise to Aswan.

DAY 4: ASWAN | MAJESTIC PHILAE

Ride a motorized boat to Philae Temple on the island of Agilika. This sacred complex was dedicated to the goddess Isis and reflects a fusion of three great civilizations — Egyptian, Greek and Roman. Proceed to Aswan High Dam. Later, Ride Like a Local around the Aswan Islands in a felucca, while enjoying a refreshing Scenic Sundowner.

DAY 5: DISEMBARK IN ASWAN | OPTIONAL ABU SIMBEL

Discover Abu Simbel, the commanding twin temples of Ramses II and his wife, Queen Nefertari. The former’s façade is dominated by four 70-foot-tall statues of the pharaoh. Perhaps even more impressive, this entire site was disassembled and moved here to save it from the floodwaters caused by the Aswan High Dam. Transfer to the Aswan airport.

4 Day Nile Cruise From Aswan To Luxor

Day 1: Arrival in Aswan | Explore the Majestic Philae Temple

Upon arrival at Aswan Airport, train station, or your hotel in Aswan—we can pick you up from any of these locations—you will be greeted by your Journey To Egypt tour guide, holding a sign with your name for a smooth, hassle-free experience. Your Nile Cruise adventure begins with a visit to the Temple of Philae, dedicated to the goddess Isis, located on the scenic Agilika Island. Accessible only by boat, the temple is renowned for its blend of Egyptian, Greek, and Roman influences.

Next, Proceed to Aswan High Dam. Later, You’ll board your Nile cruise boat for check-in and lunch.

Later, take a relaxing felucca sail around the Aswan islands while enjoying a Scenic Sundowner as the sun sets over the Nile.

Day 2: Optional Abu Simbel Tour | Cruise to Kom Ombo

Start your day early with an optional excursion to Abu Simbel, home to the majestic twin temples of Ramses II and Queen Nefertari. These temples were relocated to avoid flooding from the Aswan High Dam and stand as a testament to ancient Egyptian engineering.

After returning to Aswan, your Nile Cruise from Aswan to Luxor continues as you sail towards Kom Ombo, where you’ll visit the fascinating Temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to Sobek and Haroeris. Explore the ancient crocodile mummies and learn about ancient Egyptian medical practices.

Back onboard, enjoy the scenic views as your Nile Cruise sails towards Edfu.

Day 3: Edfu Temple | Cruise to Luxor | Explore Karnak and Luxor Temples

In the morning, visit the well-preserved Temple of Horus in Edfu, dedicated to the falcon-headed god. This temple is one of Egypt’s best-preserved sites and offers a glimpse into ancient religious practices.

Continue your journey to Luxor, where you’ll visit the magnificent Karnak Temple, one of the largest religious complexes in the world. Stroll through the Great Hypostyle Hall and explore the fascinating hieroglyphs that have adorned its columns for centuries.

End the day with a visit to the Luxor Temple, an awe-inspiring monument that showcases the grandeur of ancient Egypt.

Day 4: Valley of the Kings | Temple of Hatshepsut | Disembark in Luxor

After breakfast, explore the famous Valley of the Kings, where pharaohs were buried in tombs that are still filled with intricate art and historical artifacts. For an additional fee, visit the tomb of Tutankhamun to see firsthand the legacy of Egypt’s boy-king.

Next, visit the stunning Temple of Hatshepsut, dedicated to Egypt’s first female pharaoh. End the morning with a view of the towering Colossi of Memnon.

Your Nile Cruise from Aswan to Luxor concludes with a transfer to Luxor Airport for your onward journey.
