The Recommended Season (September to April) For the most comfortable sightseeing experience, we highly recommend planning your visit between September and April. In particular, the shoulder months of September to October and March to April offer beautifully warm, pleasant weather without the scorching heat of mid-summer, making them the absolute best times for exploring open-air archaeological sites.

The Quieter Season (May to August) The summer months are less popular for travel as temperatures become very hot, frequently reaching the mid-30s degrees Centigrade. However, if you do not mind the heat, this is an excellent time to visit if you want to avoid the crowds, as the major ancient monuments are much quieter.

Exciting Times to Visit & Cultural Festivals
The Abu Simbel Sun Festival The spectacular temples of Abu Simbel were masterfully built by ancient engineers so that on only two days of the year, the morning sun aligns perfectly to illuminate the inner sanctum of the temple. These dates mark King Ramses II's ascension to the throne (21 February) and his birthday (21 October). Experiencing Egypt During Ramadan The vast majority of Egypt's population is Muslim, and a number of Islamic celebrations are held throughout the year, with Ramadan being the most significant. During this holy month, most locals fast from dawn to sunset, focusing on faith and community.

While daytime services may be slightly slower and opening hours reduced, the country completely comes alive at night. After breaking their fast, locals head out to coffee shops, sporting clubs, and hotels. You will find a highly festive atmosphere with beautiful oriental tents serving traditional food, drinks, and shisha all night long, often accompanied by live music and Sufi dancing. The celebrations continue until just before sunrise when people share their second major meal, 'El Sohour.' Important Notes for Travelers
Attraction Opening Hours At present, there are no planned closures of major tourist sites across Egypt. However, it is important to note for your itinerary that closing times for primary attractions in Cairo, Aswan, and Luxor are currently set to 4 p.m. The grand exception to this rule is Luxor Temple, which beautifully lights up after dark and remains open to visitors until 8 p.m. during the week.
