Day 1
Explore Luxor’s Karnak and Luxor Temples on Nile Cruise

Our representative will meet you in the lobby of your hotel and transfer you to Cairo Airport for your flight to Luxor. Upon arrival at Luxor Airport, you will be met by your Journey to Egypt tour guide (at the exit door, holding a sign with your name) and begin your exploration of the East Bank of the Nile.
Visit the magnificent Temple of Karnak, where generations of pharaohs left their mark upon history. Stroll through the Great Hypostyle Hall, marveling at its perfectly aligned columns rising nearly 80 feet high. Continue to the impressive Temple of Luxor, home to the towering statues of Ramses II, the Courtyard of Ramses II, and the Colonnade of Amenhotep III with its grand 50-foot columns. Walk in the footsteps of ancient visitors and reflect on the incredible achievements of ancient Egyptian builders.
After your tour, board your Nile cruise boat and enjoy lunch and dinner on board as you settle into your floating hotel.

Day 2
Discover Luxor’s Valley of Kings and Temples

This morning, explore the West Bank of the Nile River and the Necropolis of Thebes, and view the Colossi of Memnon. Next, arrive at the architecturally stunning Temple of Hatshepsut, ancient Egypt’s first female pharaoh and regarded today as one of its most successful. Continue to the Valley of the Kings, burial ground of the pharaohs and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. For a period of 500 years beginning in the 16th century BC, tombs were built along this valley for pharaohs and nobles, including that of “the boy king,” Tutankhamun. Enter the tomb of Tutankhamun (Extra ticket on Spot) - found in 1922 by British archaeologist and Egyptologist Howard Carter- to discover the secrets of this storied chamber. This afternoon, Cruise to Edfu.

Special Information
It is possible to do a Valley of the Kings hot air balloon tour which your leader can reserve for you. Intrepid only uses providers that have been risk assessed. You will be picked up between 4.30 and 5am from your Nile Cruise. Balloon capacity is maximum of 25 people and cameras are prohibited in the basket (mobile phones are acceptable). This activity runs subject to weather conditions. Please speak to your tour guide on Day 1 if you would like to book this activity.
Day 3
Explore Temple of Horus and Kom Ombo

Today, view the Temple of Horus, falcon-headed god of the sky. Built in 230 BC by Ptolemy III, this amazingly well-preserved and colorful structure reveals what temple worship in ancient Egypt was like. Back on board, Cruise to Kom Ombo. Disembark at Kom Ombo (hill of gold) to visit the Greco- Roman temple dedicated to Haroeris (the sun god) and Sobek (the crocodile god), whom some ancient Egyptians considered the creator of the world. View the mummified remains of several crocodiles that once basked along the ancient Nile shore, just as their descendants do today. Back on board ,Cruise to Aswan.

Day 4
Philae Temple and Aswan Felucca Adventure

Ride a motorized boat to Philae Temple on the island of Agilika. This sacred complex was dedicated to the goddess Isis and reflects a fusion of three great civilizations — Egyptian, Greek and Roman. Proceed to Aswan High Dam. Later, Ride Like a Local around the Aswan Islands in a felucca, while enjoying a refreshing Scenic Sundowner.

Day 5
Discover Abu Simbel Temples and Queen Nefertari Temples

Discover Abu Simbel, the commanding twin temples of Ramses II and his wife, Queen Nefertari. The former’s façade is dominated by four 70-foot-tall statues of the pharaoh. Perhaps even more impressive, this entire site was disassembled and moved here to save it from the floodwaters caused by the Aswan High Dam. Transfer to the Aswan airport to take your flight back to Cairo.
