Queen Hatshepsut one of the greatest Queens and the first to rule ancient Egypt, she was the fifth pharaohs of the 18th dynasty, Hatshepsut was born in 1508 BC to King Thutmose I and his wife Queen Ahmose, her grandfather was King Ahmose, Hatshepsut name means “Foremost of Noble Women”. She ruled beside her father, she learned much from her father so she can be the Queen after him, she was the elder daughter of her father Thutmose I, but ancient Egyptian has rejected the idea of women ruling them.
Queen Hatshepsut period started when she married her half-brother Thutmose II and become the Queen in 1492 BC, he was son of Thutmose I from minor wife lady Mutnofret, he was a weak man with poor health, Hatshepsut ruled Egypt in the name of the King while she was his wife, Hatshepsut had only one daughter from her husband Thutmose II Neferu-Ra, she was elevated to be God’s wife of Amun, the second highest position for women in ancient Egypt after the Queen, Hatshepsut was preparing herself to be the pharaoh after her husband died, after Thutmose II death, the Egyptian traditions rejected the idea of the women ruling them as a Queen, they made Thutmose III the king and Hatshepsut ruled as regent to her step-son, Thutmose III son of Thutmose II from his lesser wife Isis, Hatshepsut had an influential supporters including Senenmut her chief minister, that helped her to be the pharaoh of all Egypt with full authority of pharaoh, she was ruled by male pharaohs, she order to be portrayed with a beard and muscles, and appeared in traditional female regalia.
Queen Hatshepsut era was known as peaceful and made friendships with neighbors countries using trade. She was interested in building the great ships to use it in trade, she sent many of the seaborne trading expeditions to punt and to the Atlantic Ocean, and it was back with gold, baboons, myrrh, ebony, wild animals and animal skins. She sends many of military campaigns to Syria and Nubia, it’s only disciplinary campaigns, she made her step-son Thutmose III a leader to many of this campaigns, after she learns him martial arts and managing the affairs of the country, she married him to her daughter Neferu-Ra, she protect her and give her title of God’s wife of Amun.
